Formation and Purpose

The Capacity Center for Climate and Weather Extremes was established in 2016 in response to a growing need to bring together cutting-edge science, engineering, and technology, with decision-makers from all disciplines. It is a hub for novel research, hosting visitors from academia and industry alike; educational development, from short tutorials to long-term student mentoring; enhanced multidisciplinary and multi-cultural communication; and development of tools bringing the power of the new research into the hands of those making decisions, in ways that they find useful.

Collaborations to enhance resilience

C3WE aims to enhance societal resilience and response to weather and climate extremes through research, education, workforce development, and creation of actionable tools in collaboration with academic, private, public, and community organizations.
